Keens Academy ("Keens", "we", "us") is a Seoul-based K-pop training and assessment service operated globally at keensacademy.com. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account & contact: name, email, country, age range, and any K-pop training background you provide.
- Assessment inputs: answers to the Level Check forms, optional photos and videos you upload for evaluation.
- Payment: we don't store full card numbers. Payments are processed by our payment partner (Stripe). We receive a transaction ID, the last four digits of your card, billing country, and amount.
- Communications: messages you send us via email, KakaoTalk, Instagram, or chat.
Information we collect automatically
- Device & usage: IP address, browser, device type, pages viewed, referring URL, and timestamps.
- Cookies and similar technologies: see Section 4.
2. How we use information
- To provide the service — grade your assessment, generate your report, and deliver it.
- To communicate with you about your purchase, account, and customer support.
- To improve our training materials and assessment models, using de-identified inputs where possible.
- To send marketing emails about Keens products. You can opt out of marketing at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email.
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- To comply with applicable law.
3. How we share information
We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers who help us run the service (e.g. payment processing, email delivery, hosting, analytics) under contracts that limit their use of the data.
- Keens trainers and reviewers who grade your submissions, under confidentiality.
- Legal & safety — when required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Keens, our users, or others.
- Business transfers — if Keens is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We'll notify you and follow this policy.
4. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, secure the site, and understand how the service is used. We use analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) that may set their own cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings; some features may not work without them.
5. International transfers
Keens is operated from the Republic of Korea, and our service providers may be located in the United States, the European Union, and elsewhere. By using the service, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries with different data protection laws than your own. Where required, we use lawful transfer mechanisms such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. Retention
We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the service and for legitimate business purposes, including legal, accounting, and reporting requirements. Assessment submissions are typically retained for 24 months, after which they are deleted or de-identified. You can request earlier deletion using the contact details below.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your information ("right to be forgotten").
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise these rights, email help@keensacademy.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
California residents: we don't sell personal information. You may request information about disclosures for direct marketing and exercise the rights described above.
8. Minors
The service is intended for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are between 13 and 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian to use Keens, and they must agree to this policy on your behalf. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and vendor due diligence. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on this page and, where appropriate, by email. The "Effective" date above shows when the policy was last revised. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
